Staheli & Gibson Water Well
Akyem-Akropong
In Akyem-Akropong, Ghana, many of the public wells dry up during the dry season. The wells are hand-dug and too shallow to be free of contaminants. Many families in Akyem-Akropong fetch from other water sources such as creeks or ponds. In the picture to the left, local children show where their families retrieve water at a fish farming pond.
Well Construction
The Staheli & Gibson (AED 002) Well was dedicated on March 3rd, 2023. To ensure water purity, a water filter was installed over the pump. The well now serves thousands of people daily.
